Celebrating the work of our volunteers
More than 80 people took part in a celebration event to thank volunteers across Oxleas.
Organised by the Volunteer Team, the ‘thank you’ tea at Danson Boathouse paid tribute to the hard work that local people put
in to support Oxleas service users and staff.
The event was opened by Steve Dilworth, Vice Chair of Oxleas, who recognised the valuable contribution volunteers make to the trust, while Oxleas Chief Executive, Ify Okocha, thanked volunteers for giving up their time and sharing their skills.
Japleen Kaur, Assistant Director for Involvement, was delighted to hold the event in person after delaying it for two years due to
the Covid pandemic, she said. "I think the history of the NHS and volunteering is inextricably linked, it has a direct impact on improving both the quality of services we provide and the patients’ experience.
“Every day is a day to thank volunteers for their tireless contributions”.
She added that our volunteers had welcomed the opportunity to meet up after the social distancing created by the Covid pandemic and it was a real chance to demonstrate how much we value and appreciate them.
